The Trust holds elections to the Governing Council every year. Governors from the public and staff constituencies are elected to office for varying terms up to three yearsand may seek election for further terms up to a maximum of three.
If you are a member of the Trust and over the age of fourteen years then you are eligible to stand for election in the public constituency in which you live. Equally if you are employed by the Trust you are eligible to stand for election in the appropriate staff constituency.
We will post details of the Elections on this site throughout the year. If you would like further information about how to participate in the election process please contact the Foundation Trust Office.
Elections were held in six constituencies during 2009/10. You can view details of these in table 11 on page 91 of the Annual Report 2009/10.
The overall make up of the Governing Council over the year 2009/10 together with details of the appointments of individual governors and their attendance at council meetings are shown in table 12 on pages 92 - 94 of the Annual Report 2009/10.

By-Election - Close of Poll Wednesday 25 April 2012
It has come to the Trust's attention that in relation to the by-election which was due to end Wednesday 25 April 2012, there has been a problem late delivery of SOME notices arriving after the nominations deadline. It is our understanding that this was due to a postal problem. Therefore, to ensure a fair oppotunity is given to ALL persons wishing to put themselves forward to become a Governor of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, we have rescheduled the timetable of this by-election.
