I have an interest in Luminal Gastroenterology and have been trained in Inflammatory bowel disease and advanced therapeutic endoscopy and colonoscopy at Oxford and London. I have also held British Society of Gastroenterology International Fellowships at the Medical University of South Carolina USA and Tokyo Japan for early GI cancer diagnosis and endoscopic treatment.
I currently conduct the Inflammatory bowel disease clinic at Bishop Auckland and have a research interest in new technologies for Endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of early cancers in Barrett's Oesophagus. My current research interests include Barrett's Oesophagus Coeliac Disease and Inflammatory bowel disease and I currently run over 6 clinical studies in various aspects of Gastrointestinal Research with regional and national collaborators in the UK.
I have research publications in Helicobacter pylori IBD and Endoscopy and I have been a recipient of a Commonwealth Fellowship to the University of Oxford for Gastroenterology training and the British Society of Gastroenterology fellowship for training in advanced endoscopy. I was elected to the FRCP of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 2005. I have a Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Newcastle and have an interest in the education of Junior Doctors.
