Debbie trained as a nurse in London and as a midwife in Kent.
She has a diploma in midwifery from the Royal College of Midwives in London. BSC (Hons) in midwifery from the University of Manchester. Post graduate diploma in education from the University of Northumbria and a MA in management and leadership in health care from the University of Leeds.
Debbie has worked clinically as a midwife and in neonatal services both in the South of England and abroad, before she moved with her family to the North East 15 years ago. She was Head of Midwifery for 11 years before taking up her current post of Divisional Manager of Women's, Children's & Sexual Health two and a half years ago.
