Health Improvement Service Celebrates Volunteering

Friday the 24th of June saw more than 90 Volunteers attend the second annual Volunteer Celebration event organised by the Foundation Trust's Health Improvement Service.

The event, which this year included volunteers from across the Foundation Trust, was held at Hardwick Hall in Sedgefield. The evening event included a presentation, with Tom Hunt Commercial Director for the Foundation Trust, highlighting the important contribution that volunteers make to our services and the presentation of seven awards to seven volunteers of the year.

The winners of the awards were nominated by the volunteers of each service and teams such as the Friends of Darlington Memorial Hospital, the Get Active Team, Healthworks and the volunteer service from Bishop Auckland Hospital.

Steve Lovell, Health Improvement Lead with the Health Improvement Service said "Volunteers are vital to our services and it's a genuine honor to recognize their contribution at an event such as this. Volunteers across the Foundation Trust enable services to accomplish tasks that we would not usually be able to do."

The event also raised £287 through a raffle of prizes donated by staff, which will be donated to the North Air Ambulance charity.

Phil Gover Senior Health Improvement Manager said "It's a pleasure to celebrate the work of our volunteers, we are extremely proud of their collective achievements.  We will continue to develop volunteering, as a healthy activity, as we move forward with our wider health improving plans."
