Medical Photography/ Illustration provide a visual communication service for the Foundation Trust and the Primary Care Trust.
We operate on four sites - Bishop Auckland Hospital, Darlington Memorial Hospital, Shotley Bridge Community Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham.
Clinical photography may be undertaken for hospital notes treatment planning teaching and research.
The department is staffed by professionally qualified clinical photographers working within the Institute of Medical Illustration guidelines to produce images to the highest standard.
All specialities are covered with a particular emphasis on Ophthalmology (retinal photography O.C.T and fundus fluorescien angiography), Plastic Surgery, Dermatology and Orthodontics.
We have purpose build studios within each department - however photography is also available on location within the clinical setting if required.
We offer a comprehensive medico-legal photography service to solicitors and clinicians.
Additionally visual art material is prepared for education research and publication along with the provision of video and graphics services.
