Division of Women, Children and Sexual Health

Midwife holding babyThe division of Women's, Children's and Sexual Health offer a comprehensive range of maternity, gynaecology, sexual health and paediatric services.   We provide services across 5 sites including Bishop  Auckland, Durham, Darlington, Shotley Bridge and Chester le Street.  We have over 45 consultants supported by a dedicated workforce of doctors, nurses and health care professionals.

Our services include:

Maternity -  two busy consultant units caring for high and low risk women, a low dependency midwifery led unit, ante natal services and a full range of community midwifery services. 

Gynaecology - Colposcopy services, fertility, hysteroscopy, urodynamic/urogynaecology services, abortion/termination services

Sexual Health -  services include advice on sexuality, pregnancy decision making, accessing services, Chlamydia screening contraceptive choices

Paediatrics - provides a comprehensive range of Child Health Paediatric and Neonatal services

All our Consultants, midwives and nursing staff work closely together and are committed to providing high quality care to ensure our patients receive expert advice, excellent treatment and appropriate aftercare tailored to individual patient needs.
