Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Continuing Professional Development Programme

The Continuing Professional Develpment Programme or Train the Trainer is led by Dr. David Laird, Medical Educationalist. The programme has gained external accreditation and has been awarded CPD points for most of its training sessions. The programme is planned to help the Trust achieve and maintain the GMC standards for trainers.

The sessions are designed to enable staff to reach the requirements of the GMC if education and traiing for junior medical staff  is part of their job role. The training sessions at CDDFT are open to all suitably qulified doctors and other staff in the region, you need not be an employee of CDDFT to book a place on these courses.

The role of Train the Trainer programme is to advise and improve competence in our trainers so that training improves across the Trust at all levels. There are core elements to the programme but we have allowed for a degree of flexibility. Feedback and requests for specific training will be considered for future programmes based upon need and relevance.

Programme for 11/12 to be published shortly.

Staff & Associate Specialty Doctors (SAS) Training Programme

CDDFT is proactive in its approach to the development of SAS doctors.

SAS doctors provide vital support for the Clinical Services and in the Education and Training of Junior doctors. Therefore the SAS doctors' development and training programme is aimed at maintaining the high quality service we strive to deliver.

There will be DEVELOPMENT DAYS AND SEMINARS  organised and it is important that SAS doctors proactively participate in these events to make them a success and receive the benefits they can deliver.

I will be delighted to provide all the necessary information, guidance, support and motivation for the development and success of SAS Doctors in their career paths.
