County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust is one of the
CHKS 40Top Hospitals for the fifth year running. These awards
celebrate excellence amongst UK NHS trusts and are based on the
evaluation of key areas such as safety, efficiency, patient
experience and quality of care.
Healthcare intelligence and improvement services specialist CHKS
last night announced the winners of its Top Hospitals programme
awards at a ceremony in London. The 40Top Hospitals award is one of
several awards that are part of this awards programme.
As well as individual national awards for patient safety,
quality of care and data quality, CHKS celebrates excellence
amongst its clients across the UK with the 40Top Hospitals award.
This award is based on the evaluation of 23 key performance
indicators covering safety, clinical effectiveness, health
outcomes, efficiency, patient experience and quality of care.
Diane Murphy, Acting Director of Nursing for County Durham and
Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, said: "We are delighted that
the hard work of staff and our continuing commitment to improving
patient care has been recognised with this award for a fifth year
running. It is particularly pleasing that we have been recognised
in the year which saw the organisation merge with community health
services to become a provider of both hospital and community
healthcare services. This reflects the commitment and determination
of our, now 8,000 strong workforce, to deliver the highest
standards of care and to consistently improve patient
