An award winning running club in Easington is launching a new
eight week programme for beginners.
The Easington Hares Running Club is offering an eight week
programme for beginners starting on Thursday June 7 from 5.15pm -
6.00pm for only £1 per session.
Running Club leader, Amy McKenna, County Durham and Darlington
NHS Foundation Trust said: "The sessions are structured for new
runners at a gentle pace so everyone can work at their own fitness
ability. The sessions start with walking and gradually build up to
jogging a couple of miles."
Joint funding from the Tony Blair Sports Foundation and
Northumbrian Water will also allow five local people to become
leaders in running fitness to help sustain running groups in the
Easington Hares recently won 'East Durham Club of the Year 2011' at
the Active Easington Sports Awards. They are currently based at
Healthworks and train around the Easington Colliery area.
