Relocation of Urgent Treatment Centre – University Hospital of North Durham

The Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) at University Hospital of North Durham is relocating from 6pm on Thursday 23 May 2019.

The UTC runs between the hours of 6pm - 8am, Monday to Friday and 24 hours on weekends and bank holidays.

Currently, the UTC is located on the ground floor of the hospital. From this Thursday, the service will relocate to the first floor of the hospital within the main outpatient area.

The relocation is to support improvement works to the facilities for the care of younger patients coming into the Emergency Department.  National best practice recommends a 'Front of House' model for the care and treatment of paediatric patients (children) and the relocation is part of the Trust's plans to develop and implement this model of working in Durham.

Access to the UTC from Thursday will be via the external entrance to the main outpatients department which has wheelchair access.

PATIENT INFORMATION: Patients and the public are reminded that appointments for the UTC should be made by phoning 111 or by using the NHS 111 online service:

'I cannot commend the clinic enough. It is marvellous we have this service at all and well done to you all.'
