Chairman, Professor Paul Keane,
and Chief Executive, Sue Jacques, surprised the advanced care
practitioners in the emergency department at UHND, with their
Leadership for Change award.
The advanced Care
Practitioners work at junior doctor level assessing and
managing the 'Major type' patients in emergency medicine.
Sarah Clarke, who nominated them for the Leadership for Change
award, was delighted with their win. "This new, innovative role not
only provides an excellent experience for our patients but also
offers excellent career development opportunities for Nurse
Practitioners with appropriate skills and qualifications.
Working independently and with a high degree of autonomy, the
Advanced Care Practitioners will assess, diagnose, manage and
transfer or discharge patients with a wide range of undiagnosed
