Shining stars - Service Improvement Staff Award

Service Improvement staff award

Matron Linda Ibbetson nominated the winning Transitional Care Team Maternity & Neonatal Services in the Service Improvement Award in this year's staff awards.  Linda explains, "Our team formed to look at how vulnerable babies are cared for during transitional care.  We wanted a multi professional team approach to safety, quality, competence and knowledge sharing, ensuring our babies receive the best possible care and remain with their mothers.

"We realised there was a lot of work to do so just got on with it.  We're currently embedding our new working practices, training etc and getting positive feedback.  It has been a real team effort, everyone has contributed and I'm very proud of what we have achieved for the benefit of the babies in our care and their families."

Sue Jacques, said, "The amount of work the team readily took on to get this off the ground blew me away.  As we have been presenting the awards, we've heard a lot about how essential good team working is to being successful and this is a perfect example of that."

As the team gathered for a celebratory photograph, the proud father of baby Finn Wright, born less than two days earlier, readily allowed him to be included - after all, Finn and babies like him are what the service is all about.

'I would like to thank all the staff for my treatment and their professionalism.'
