Consultant Microbiologist

I trained partly in Newcastle and then in Merseyside. I was appointed as a Consultant in Merseyside in 2006 and moved to the North East in 2009.

I have a specialist interest in bone and joint infections and prudent antibiotic use.

I am involved in teaching of foundation year doctors in the principles of prudent prescribing of antibiotics.

I am the Chair of the Trust Antimicrobial Stewardship Team, lead on audit and feedback to divisions on their compliance with good prescribing and supervise the Trust antibiotc pharmacists.

I spend most of my time offering a clinical microbiology service to the Trust.
