I trained partly in Newcastle and then in Merseyside. I was
appointed as a Consultant in Merseyside in 2006 and moved to
the North East in 2009.
I have a specialist interest in bone and joint infections and
prudent antibiotic use.
I am involved in teaching of foundation year doctors in the
principles of prudent prescribing of antibiotics.
I am the Chair of the Trust Antimicrobial Stewardship Team, lead
on audit and feedback to divisions on their compliance with good
prescribing and supervise the Trust antibiotc pharmacists.
I spend most of my time offering a clinical microbiology service
to the Trust.
'As I was very, very nervous, I must have been the worst patient
ever and they were brilliant with me and I can't thank them enough
- could you please pass on my sincere thanks.'
