My early medical training was in Cambridge and London moving to Birmingham for my colorectal Surgery training. I was appointed as a consultant in general surgery with colorectal interest in 1999 and led the development of fast track colorectal cancer services. I am involved with NORCCAG a prospective audit of outcomes of colorectal cancer surgery in the Northern region. My clinical practice is largely in colorectal disease although I do minor paediatric surgery and on-call for general surgery. My main operative interests are in cancer surgery inflammatory bowel disease and now laparoscopic surgery. As well as a busy clinical practice I have been heavily involved in the development of family history bowel cancer clinics the improvement in Endoscopy services especially colonoscopy and the local bid for colorectal cancer screening (to be based at Bishop Auckland). I was Clinical Director for general surgery trust-wide but am now divsional director for all of surgery including theatres trust-wide.
'The treatment I have received from all the staff has been excellent and could you extend my thanks to them all. A very thankful and relieved patient'.
