Qualified CXHMS 1980. Joined the Royal Air Force and trained as
a surgeon in the Defence Medical Services Training Scheme. Served
in Germany Cyprus Belize. Vascular Training seconded to the NHS at
the Royal Hallamshire Hospital Sheffield. Accredited by Royal
College of Surgeons of Edinburgh as a consultant surgeon in 1992.
Retired from RAF in Jan 1995 and took up post in this Trust
initially at Shotley Bridge and moved to Dryburn in 1997. Now
specialise in all aspects of vascular surgery particularly modern
treatment of varicose veins. General surgical practice is
laparoscopic hernia and cholecystectomy plus open hernia. Lead
clinician in General Surgery for the Trust. Trust representative on
the Regional Higher Surgical Training Committee. Examiner for the
MRCS examination at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Member of National Medical Expert panel for Vibration White
Finger. Married with two grown up children aged 23 and 26. Hobbies
include fell-walking, road running and I own and fly a Robinson R22
Helicopter based at Durham Tees Valley Airport.
