I trained at St George's Hospital Medical in London, qualifying
in 1995. My basic sugical training was in Stoke-on-Trent. I did
research in Hull with Professor Duthie into anorectal disorders and
hyprebaric oxygen. My higher general surgical training was in the
Northern Deanery, specialising in colorectal surgery. I was
appointed as a consultant in Durham in 2008, and have subspecialist
interests into faecal incontinence, constipation and rectal
prolapse for which I offer a tertiary referral service.
'As I was very, very nervous, I must have been the worst patient
ever and they were brilliant with me and I can't thank them enough
- could you please pass on my sincere thanks.'
