Referring to the Service


Our service provides assessment and treatment for the following specialisms:

  • Respiratory conditions
  • Neonatal referrals will be accepted and ward assessments offered where applicable
  • Neurodevelopmental conditions
  • Rheumatology
  • Orthopaedic service (a joint clinic with an Orthopaedic Consultant is available for patients if needed)
  • Musculo-skeletal conditions (offered to patients 0-16 years old; if the patient is older than 16 the referral will need to be directed to the Adult Service.)
  • Orthotics Service
  • Palliative care

The service also provides clinics in special schools around County Durham as well as hydrotherapy, core and postural management classes, gym sessions, serial casting and rebound therapy in special schools.   Patients will first be assessed by a physiotherapist before being referred onto alternative treatment pathways.
