Springboard

  Springboard Grant

A Springboard grant is an internal subsidy primarily available to provide the following:

  • A financial platform for those starting out in research who have no access to funding
  • A financial boost for research groups hoping to develop NIHR-portfolio research

A grant awarded may be for any of the following:

  • In-house studies once Research Ethics Committee (REC) (if applicable)  and R&D Permission has been granted - up to £3000 per project
  • Research projects not requiring REC permission to cover stationary, postage and travel/conference expenses - up to £1500 per project
  • Supplementation for in-house RfPB or NIHR projects (limited to one grant per project) - up to £8000 per project (amount awarded will be at the discretion of the R&D Manager)
  • Feasibility or pilot study required to enable a full study to be undertaken with an NIHR project grant - up to £8000 per project

Final funding allocation will be decided by the R&D directorate and will only be released following successful approval by the Trust's RRB and REC (if required).

The funds will be held in the R&D budget for a period of 3 years.  Any funds not used after that period will be reclaimed by R&D.
