Investigation into a visit made by Jimmy Savile to Shotley Bridge Hospital and information received concerning Jimmy Savile and Dryburn Hospital

Following a request from the Department of Health, the Trust commissioned an investigation into two matters concerning the late Jimmy Savile: a visit to Shotley Bridge Hospital in 1981 and information received pointing to a possible connection to Dryburn Hospital. The report of the investigation into these matters is available to download under 'Related publications'.

The investigation was part of a number requested of NHS Trusts by the Department of Health. The publication of these reports follows the disclosure of information by the Metropolitan Police Service in 2012 and a document review as part of a Special Police Services Agreement in 2013 .The Metropolitan Police Service information concerning Jimmy Savile and hospital settings was transferred to the Department of Health who passed this information on to the relevant organisations for investigation.

'As I was very, very nervous, I must have been the worst patient ever and they were brilliant with me and I can't thank them enough - could you please pass on my sincere thanks.'
