Knee Pain Assessment Group (Osteoarthritis)

This group is for people who have knee pain. You may have knee osteoarthritis (OA). You may have been sent to us by a health worker, or you may have referred yourself. We need to see you to understand your knee problem and decide how to help you.

Who will see me?

You will be seen by a specialist physiotherapist - known as an Extended Scope Physiotherapist. They are highly trained to assess knee problems.

Before you come

Before your appointment, please fill in two short questionnaires - we will send these to you by text message. They ask how your knee pain affects your daily life. Your answers help us plan the best care for you. If you need help, a friend or family member can support you.

What happens in the group?

The group lasts about 2 hours. It includes:

  • Clear information about knee pain and osteoarthritis
  • A one-to-one (1:1) assessment with a specialist physiotherapist

This is not an exercise group and you will not be asked to exercise. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing so we can check your knee and hip properly.

What happens after?

Sometimes knee pain is not only from the knee. If this happens, we will plan the right care for you. If you need tests, such as an X-ray or MRI scan, we will arrange this. After your assessment, we will talk to you about treatment options.

If the group is not right for you

If you do not feel comfortable in a group, please contact us. We can arrange a one-to-one appointment instead.
