How we train and develop our staff

All staff working for the Trust have access to a comprehensive programme of training courses and learning opportunities.

We have a number of teams in learning and development who will happily discuss learning opportunities open to you.

All of the training and learning we manage is available in our "Lifelong Learning Directory" that is reviewed and published on an annual basis.

Our teams are:

  • The Medical Education Team - responsible for the training of undergraduate medical students from the University of Newcastle, junior medical staff in training and consultants and other senior staff trainers within the Trust.
  • The Vocational Training Team - responsible for managing and delivering all vocational and apprenticeship based training.
  • The Information Technology and Information Training  (IM&T) Team - responsible for delivery of IM&T training including clinical information system training and an extensive range of computer based learning packages ("E-learning").
  • The Training Administration Team - responsible for adminstering all training delivery, including room management,  course booking, registration, certification and reporting.
  • The Library Team - responsible for maintaining and developing our Trust library facilities, available as  library facilities on our  three major sites, and also an extensive range of virtual resources.
