Professor Richard Scothon, Chairman of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT), recently visited Bishop Auckland Memorial Hospital to meet with several vital support teams and recognise their contributions to the Trust.
During the visit, Professor Scothon met with the Workforce Compliance, Planning and Information, and Systems teams - all of which play essential roles behind the scenes to ensure the Trust operates smoothly and compliantly while supporting frontline colleagues in delivering high-quality patient care.
Though small in size, these teams have a significant impact across the organisation:
-
The Workforce Compliance Team oversees Freedom of Information (FOI) and Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), as well as employment-related enquiries, helping CDDFT remain legally compliant and responsive.
-
The Planning and Information Team supports mandatory training compliance, appraisals, and workforce retention – key elements in maintaining a safe, skilled, and motivated workforce.
-
The Systems Team manages annual leave entitlements, clinical staff registrations, ESR records, and TUPE processes, including the recent transfer of the Children’s Speech and Language Therapy team into CDDFT.
Professor Scothon took the opportunity to hear directly from staff, discussing their work, responses to the recent Staff Survey, work environments, and family life.
His thoughtful engagement and recognition were warmly received by the teams, who described a buzz of excitement and appreciation during the visit.
The Chairman’s interest in their work and his acknowledgment of their crucial role within the Trust structure were both welcomed and appreciated.
