Shotley Bridge Community Hospital

Shotley Bridge Community Hospital offers a range of healthcare services to support the local communities. The hospital provides urgent care, outpatient services, has a dedicated cancer care unit, an elderly care/rehabilitation ward as well as other services aimed at promoting recovery and enhancing quality of life.

Visiting information

We know that spending time with family and friends plays a vital role in wellbeing and recovery. As part of our family-centred approach to care and to support our patients to stay connected with the people who matter most to them, open visiting is in place across our hospitals.

Visitors are welcome daily between 10:30am and 7:30pm.

Children are also encouraged to visit where appropriate, however they must be supervised at all times and should not visit if unwell.

The hospital can be accessed by public transport - detailed information on routes and schedules can be found on local transport websites or Google Maps.

Parking at Shotley Bridge Hospital (SBH)

At SBH, there are three designated car parks available for staff, patients and visitors to use. To help maintain safe access around the hospital site and support emergency vehicle access, please do not park on surrounding roads, pavements or double yellow lines. Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) is also now in operation on site.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping keep the hospital site safe, accessible and considerate for patients, visitors, local residents and emergency services.

Car parking

To help support safer and more appropriate parking for patients, visitors and staff at Shotley Bridge Community Hospital, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology is in use. The main car parks remain free of charge.

Parking on surrounding roads, particularly where double yellow lines are in place, can cause safety issues and access problems for emergency vehicles, hospital transport and local residents. Keeping this areas clear helps ensure safe access to the hospital site at all times.

Visitors are reminded to:

  • Please park in marked bays within the designated car parks
  • Please don’t not park on the double yellow lines
  • Keeping access routes clear helps ensure ambulances and emergency services can reach the hospital quickly
