As the academic year draws to a close, the Postgraduate Medical Education Team at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT) is entering one of its busiest and most pivotal periods.

Working largely behind the scenes, the team plays a vital role in shaping the doctors of tomorrow. From coordinating the Annual Review of Competency Progression (ARCP) for Foundation Programme doctors to supporting Specialty Trainees as they complete placements and prepare for their next career steps, this is a time of transition, reflection, and preparation.

At the same time, preparations are well underway to welcome the next cohort of resident doctors this August.

The team is working across departments to ensure the induction process runs smoothly, with training that is not only high-quality and comprehensive but also responsive to the needs of both trainees and clinical teams.

By facilitating structured, well-supported placements, the Medical Education Team helps uphold a safe, effective learning environment that benefits both patients and staff — maintaining the Trust’s strong learning culture while enabling doctors to thrive at every stage of their training.
