Last week, Sue Jacques, Chief Executive of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, and Trust Chairman Professor Richard Scothon, visited Derwentside College to strengthen and build upon our growing partnership in education and training.
During the visit, they met with Chris Todd, Principal of Derwentside College, David Allsop, Chair of Governors, and Susan Errington, Deputy Principal.
Together, they reflected on the significant progress already made through collaboration and explored new opportunities to further develop the partnership.
The conversation focused on how CDDFT staff can access new training and development opportunities through the College, ensuring our teams continue to build the skills they need to deliver outstanding care.
Just as importantly, discussions looked at ways to inspire students from a wide range of backgrounds to consider a career with the NHS.
By working together, we can create practical routes into healthcare, encourage innovation in learning, and make sure that the NHS workforce of tomorrow is drawn from the rich diversity of our communities.
The ongoing relationship between education and healthcare partners is key to supporting students and staff, building pathways into rewarding healthcare careers, and ensuring that our local communities benefit from the very best in training and development.
This latest meeting marks another important step in working together to shape the future of healthcare education and create opportunities for the workforce of tomorrow.
