Professor Richard Scothon, Chairman of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT), recently visited the Chaplaincy Team at Darlington Memorial Hospital to learn more about their vital role in supporting the spiritual and emotional well-being of patients, families, and staff across the Trust.​

During his visit, Professor Scothon met with members of the multi-faith Chaplaincy Team to discuss the comprehensive support they provide.

The team offers spiritual, pastoral, and religious care to individuals of all faiths and none, ensuring that everyone receives compassionate support tailored to their personal beliefs and needs.

The Chaplaincy Team operates across all CDDFT hospitals, including Darlington Memorial Hospital, University Hospital of North Durham, and Bishop Auckland Hospital, as well as community hospitals in Shotley Bridge, Chester-le-Street, Weardale, Richardson, and Sedgefield .

They are available 24 hours a day for urgent calls, providing immediate support in times of crisis.​

Professor Scothon expressed his deep appreciation for the Chaplaincy Team's unwavering commitment to providing holistic care.

He acknowledged the essential role they play in fostering an inclusive and compassionate environment within the Trust, ensuring that the emotional and spiritual needs of patients, families, and staff are met with empathy and respect.​
