Sustainability in healthcare is more vital than ever, and at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, significant strides are being made to reduce environmental impact and operate more sustainably.
As part of ongoing engagement with Trust sites, Chairman Professor Richard Scothon and Lead Governor Mr Frank White recently visited Darlington Memorial Hospital to see first-hand some of the innovative work taking place to support the Trust’s green goals.
Pictured alongside the hospital’s solar panels and vacuum cylinders at the Energy Centre, Professor Scothon and Mr White explored how these initiatives are helping to cut carbon emissions, reduce waste, and improve energy efficiency across the site.
This visit shines a spotlight on just a small part of the wider sustainability programme being delivered across CDDFT.
From smarter energy use to greener travel and improved waste management, teams across the Trust are working hard to ensure healthcare is delivered in a way that protects both people and the planet.
CDDFT remains committed to embedding sustainability in all that we do, and the work at DMH is just one example of how we are taking action for a healthier, more environmentally responsible future.
