A huge well done to the Teesdale district nursing colleagues who took part in the Pretty Muddy Race for Life on Saturday in memory of much-loved District Nursing Sister, Gemma Hunter.
Gemma sadly passed away towards the end of 2025 following an aggressive cancer diagnosis, leaving a huge impact on her team, colleagues, patients and all who knew her.
The team originally set themselves a fundraising target of £900, but thanks to the incredible generosity of patients, CDDFT colleagues, GP colleagues, family, friends and the wider community, they have now raised almost £6,000 for Cancer Research UK.
It was an emotional and special day, made even more meaningful by the support of Gemma’s family, including her husband Dave, mam and dad, and sister Rhona Beecham, who came along to cheer the team on.
Sandra Smyth, one of the district nurses who took part, said: “Oh my goodness, what a day it turned out to be. It was amazing to see the team come together and celebrate, raising money to fight cancer.”
Thank you to everyone who supported, donated or helped the team reach such an incredible total in Gemma’s memory.
