As part of our continued commitment to community engagement and recognising the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our colleagues, we were pleased to welcome Sergeant Jim Bogie to Darlington Memorial Hospital last week.
Sgt Bogie, of the 214 Multi-Role Medical Regiment, spent time in Hollies Restaurant, where he engaged with colleagues and offered insight into his role and the vital work carried out by the regiment.
The 214 Regiment delivers rapid, front-line medical support comparable to an Emergency Department, capable of deploying and operating in challenging environments across the globe.
During his visit, Sgt Bogie was warmly received by Professor Richard Scothon, CDDFT Chairman and member of the Durham Light Infantry Board, and Rich Jones, CDDFT Charity Manager and former Sergeant in the 2nd Battalion Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.
Their shared military experience made for a meaningful discussion about the close ties and shared values between the NHS and the armed forces.
By fostering partnerships like this, we continue to celebrate the diversity within our Trust and highlight opportunities for colleagues interested in roles that complement or transition between healthcare and military service.
A big thank you to everyone who took the time to speak with Sgt Bogie and learn more about the exceptional work of the 214 Multi-Role Medical Regiment.
