Join the global movement to raise awareness and end HIV.
On 1 December, the world comes together to observe World AIDS Day, a time to show support for people living with HIV, remember those who have lost their lives, and learn the facts about HIV in the UK and worldwide.
Why it matters
-
Around 40.8 million people globally were living with HIV in 2024.
-
In the UK, 107,000 people are living with HIV, and 94% are diagnosed.
-
This means 1 in 16 people with HIV in the UK don’t know their status—highlighting the ongoing importance of testing and awareness.
The UK’s goal
The UK government aims to end HIV transmissions by 2030, making education, testing, and prevention services more important than ever.
