About our Cancer Services
Our cancer team includes doctors, nurses, and other healthcare staff. They care for people with cancer.
The team works together to plan your care. This is called a Multi-Disciplinary Team, or MDT. We will talk with you about your care and help you make choices about your treatment.
We work closely with The James Cook University Hospital, Freeman Hospital, Royal Victoria Infirmary and Queen Elizabeth Hospital. This means you can have the latest tests and treatments.
We care for people with many types of cancer, including:
- Breast cancer
- Blood cancer
- Lung cancer
- Skin cancer
- Bowel and stomach cancers
- Head and neck cancers
- Women’s cancers
We also have a Palliative Care Team. They help people with symptoms caused by serious illness, working in our hospitals and in the community. The team helps improve quality of life and supports patients and families.
Our Macmillan Information Centres give free advice and support to people affected by cancer. Staff can help you find support groups, money advice, and other local services.
