Important update: contraceptive implant (Nexplanon)
Following extensive research, the contraceptive implant Nexplanon has now had its license extended in the UK for up to 5 years of contraceptive use.
What does this mean for you?
If you already have a Nexplanon implant in place:
- You do not need to have it replaced at 3 years
- It is now effective for up to 5 years from the date it was fitted
- You can safely keep your implant in place for the full 5 years
