Zero-tolerance to violence and aggression

We have a zero-tolerance policy towards abuse and violence against our staff, both in person and over the telephone. Our staff are here to support you and are committed to ensuring you receive the safest, most compassionate care as quickly as possible. We will not tolerate raised voices or rude or abusive behaviour towards our staff.

About our services

We provide innovative services, delivered by a committed, highly skilled workforce to achieve standards of excellence in sexual health. Our team includes health advisors, doctors, sexual health nurses and support staff who are friendly, non-judgmental and will be happy to advise on any matters related to sexual health.

Our services are free, confidential and open to people of all ages (including people under 16 years old).

How to access our services

We offer both appointments and walk-in clinics. 

Walk-in sessions for contraception and sexual health are available at the following times:

Young people aged under 25 years

With or without symptoms

Tuesday 3.20pm - 6.20pm

Centre for Sexual Health / GUM, University Hospital of North Durham, North Road, Durham DH1 5TW

No symptoms of an STI

Monday 3pm – 4.20pm

St Margaret’s Health Centre, St Margaret’s Garth, Durham DH1 4DS

Wednesday 3pm – 4.20pm

Stanley Primary Care Centre, Clifford Road, Stanley, Co. Durham DH9 0AB

All ages

With or without symptoms

Wednesday 9am – 12 midday

Centre for Sexual Health / GUM, University Hospital of North Durham, North Road, Durham DH1 5TW

There is no need to book an appointment at these clinics. Please be advised our walk-in clinics have limited capacity and they may close earlier than stated.

Those requiring emergency contraception should in the first instance contact the central booking line or seek advice via Community pharmacies - please see below to find those providing this service.
