We are pleased to share that Alison Marshall has been appointed as the substantive Chair of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.
Alison has served as Interim Chair since 21 October 2025, providing continuity, stability and leadership during an important period for the Trust. Working alongside colleagues, governors and partners, she has helped support the Trust's ongoing improvement programme and strengthened relationships with patients, staff and local communities.
Alison's appointment follows a comprehensive recruitment process led by the Council of Governors, including assessment by governors and involvement from external stakeholders.
Commenting on her appointment, Alison said:
"It has been a privilege to serve as Interim Chair and to see first-hand the commitment of colleagues across our Trust. Every day I meet people who care deeply about providing the best possible care for our communities and who want to make things better.
"We have made important progress, but we know there is more to do. I look forward to continuing to work with colleagues, governors, patients, partners and local communities as we build on that progress together. By listening, learning and working openly with one another, we can continue to strengthen our services and create an organisation that our patients, communities and colleagues can be proud of."
With Alison's appointment, the Trust's strengthened leadership team is now in place, providing a strong foundation as we continue to improve services for our patients and communities.
