We’re delighted to announce that a CDDFT-led simulation programme, developed in collaboration with Teesside University, has been shortlisted for the University Alliance Awards 2025.
The Beyond Preceptorship simulation course was created to strengthen early career support for nurses, midwives, and allied health professionals.
It grew from a Trust-initiated project to identify workforce development needs and was co-designed with Teesside University to directly reflect the realities of clinical practice.
A new approach to professional development
Led by Abigail Green, Associate Professor of Clinical Simulation at Teesside University, and developed in close partnership with CDDFT, the programme immerses participants in realistic case-based scenarios – spanning ward environments, emergency situations, and even legal proceedings.
The course aims to build confident and reflective professionals by:
-
Using interdisciplinary simulation to strengthen communication, leadership, and decision-making
-
Encouraging critical thinking and active participation in service improvement
-
Delivering excellent results – with 100% of learners achieving their objectives and an impressive 9.4/10 satisfaction score
Recognition at a national level
The winners of the University Alliance Awards will be announced at a celebration evening on 18 September 2025, hosted by the University of Hertfordshire.
The event will bring together nominees from across the UK, with guest speakers, entertainment, and dinner to mark the achievements of those shortlisted.
This nomination highlights the power of innovation and partnership – and reflects the proactive work happening across our Trust to support professional development.
