On Thursday 5 June 2025, County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT) marked Biomedical Science Day – a national celebration of the vital role biomedical science professionals play in healthcare.
Here at CDDFT, our Pathology teams took the opportunity to shine a spotlight on the incredible work they do behind the scenes every single day – from sample receipt and analysis to generating the high-quality results that support diagnosis, treatment and care across our hospitals.
Science, Smiles and Sweet Treats
This year’s celebration went beyond the lab benches. The Pathology team set up engagement stands across sites, giving staff and visitors a chance to learn more about biomedical science and the work happening in our labs.
We also sent sweets and science-themed colouring sheets and puzzles to our Paediatric Teams to share with children and families across clinics and wards – adding a bit of fun and education into their day.
A huge thank you to everyone who visited the stands, took part in the activities, or simply stopped by to say hello. The team truly appreciated the chance to connect and share their passion for healthcare science.
Honouring a Remarkable Team
Our Trust is proud to be home to a truly talented team of Biomedical Scientists, Clinical Scientists, Associate Practitioners, and Medical Laboratory Assistants.
Thank you for all you do. On Biomedical Science Day – and every day – you make #TeamCDDFT, our communities, and most importantly, our patients, proud.
