Our teams continue to deliver care, compassion, and dedication to patients and families across the Trust, and recent visits from our Chairman have shone a light on the incredible work happening every day.

Paediatric Treetops Ward

On Paediatric Treetops Ward, every member of the team – from Matron, Ward Manager, Sisters, and nursing staff, to healthcare assistants, ward clerks, doctors, and domestics – plays a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and positive environment for children and their families.

During a recent visit, Professor Richard Scothon, Trust Chairman, praised the team’s professionalism and warmth, recognising the impact of their dedication and teamwork in providing the very best care for young patients.

Maternity Services at University Hospital of North Durham

At the Maternity Unit, University Hospital of North Durham, staff shared updates on the ongoing improvements to bereavement services, including the introduction of recently donated cuddle cots. These provide families with the opportunity to take their babies home, offering comfort and precious time together.

The Chairman also heard about the excitement of welcoming newly qualified midwives who have trained alongside the team.

Their transition into permanent roles is strengthening the service and ensuring continuity of the excellent care that families rely on.

These visits highlight the dedication, skill, and compassion of our colleagues across the Trust. From paediatrics to maternity care, our teams are making a real and lasting difference to the lives of patients and families every single day.
