County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust is proud to mark International Nurses Day 2025 by recognising and celebrating the invaluable contributions of its nursing workforce.

This annual event, observed globally on 12 May, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth, provides an opportunity to reflect on the critical role nurses play in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across all settings.

Kathryn Burn, Executive Director of Nursing, extended her heartfelt gratitude to the Trust’s nursing teams: “Happy International Nurses Day 2025. I would like to give thanks to our incredible team of nurses here at CDDFT. Whether you’re working days or nights, on our wards, in people’s homes, or out in our communities - your care, compassion, and commitment make a real difference every single day. We are so grateful for everything you do for our patients, families, and colleagues.”

The Trust's nurses work across a wide range of services, including acute and community settings, often providing care in complex and challenging circumstances.

Their clinical expertise, professional dedication, and compassionate approach are fundamental to the delivery of safe and effective healthcare across the region.

To mark the occasion, a special video has been produced showcasing the professionalism, resilience, and humanity of CDDFT’s nursing staff. The video highlights the diverse roles nurses undertake and the positive impact they have on patients and their families every day.
