A very special milestone was marked at University Hospital of North Durhamas much-loved volunteer Mavis Burnip celebrated her 90th birthday.

Mavis has been a dedicated part of the Trust’s volunteer team for an incredible 21 years, making a lasting impact on patients, visitors, and staff alike.

She began volunteering with the Trust in 2004 on Ward 3, before moving to General Outpatients in 2007.

Since 2017, Mavis has been a friendly and familiar face at main reception, where she continues to support the hospital five days a week from 11:00 to 15:00.

Her warmth, reliability, and tireless commitment have made her an integral part of the UHND community.

Mavis is not only admired for her hard work but also cherished by staff, patients, and visitors, many of whom speak fondly of her helpful and kind-hearted nature.
