County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust is proud to celebrate National Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) Day on Wednesday 14 May – a day to recognise and thank the skilled professionals who play a vital role in delivering safe, high-quality surgical care.
Operating Department Practitioners work across all areas of perioperative care, supporting patients through every stage of their surgical journey.
From preparing operating theatres and assisting during surgery, to providing expert post-operative care, ODPs are essential members of the healthcare team.
Helen Coppock, Associate Director of Nursing, said: “I would like to acknowledge and give thanks to the amazing nursing and ODP teams who show such commitment and dedication every day. I am immensely proud to lead the Nursing and ODP team within the surgical care group, supported by a brilliant matron team. Thank you for everything you do, for our staff and patients.”
Today is an opportunity to celebrate the contribution of ODPs across the Trust and shine a light on the outstanding care they provide, often behind the scenes, working in high-pressure environments to ensure patients receive the best possible outcomes.
Thank you for everything you do.
