More than 30 colleagues joined us at University Hospital of North Durham (UHND) on Thursday 29 October for our first long service celebration event, recognising those who have dedicated 35 years or more to working across our organisation.
Among those attending were seven colleagues who have each given more than 40 years of service to the NHS.
Across County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT), more than 200 colleagues have reached 35 years or more of service, representing an incredible collective achievement of more than 5,000 years of experience, commitment and care.
The event was hosted by Chief Executive Steve Russell and Chair Alison Marshall, alongside executive colleagues, who took the opportunity to thank colleagues for their dedication and the difference they have made to patients, families and communities throughout their careers.
Speaking at the celebration, Steve said: "You are part of a very special group of colleagues and should be incredibly proud of what you have achieved. We are privileged to have you at CDDFT and to work alongside you.
"But beyond the number of years are the thousands of patients, families and carers whose lives you will have touched. You may not remember every one of them, but you can be sure many will remember you and the difference you made to them.
"Thank you for your loyalty, dedication and professionalism. It is hugely appreciated."
A second celebration event will take place at Darlington Memorial Hospital on Tuesday 17 November, giving more colleagues the opportunity to come together and be recognised for their long service.
These events mark the beginning of our work to review and refresh how we recognise and celebrate long service across CDDFT, with more opportunities to celebrate our colleagues and their achievements planned for next year.
