As we mark Volunteers’ Week (2-8 June 2025), County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust would like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to all of our incredible volunteers who make such a positive difference every day.
Our volunteers play a vital role in supporting staff, patients, relatives, carers, and visitors across our hospitals and community services.
With generosity, kindness and dedication, they contribute their time and energy to a wide range of non-clinical activities that help to personalise and enhance the experience of those we care for.
From greeting and guiding visitors, chatting with patients and their families, assisting at mealtimes, supporting patient feedback surveys, raising funds, or being a friendly voice on hospital radio, our volunteers bring warmth and compassion to everything they do.
Their presence helps to create a more welcoming, personal and social environment throughout our services.
Currently, more than 120 volunteers are active across our sites, and their contributions are deeply valued. They are truly the helping hands that reach into every corner of hospital and community life, and their impact is felt by all.
To each and every one of our volunteers – thank you. Your commitment, care and community spirit are what make you such an important part of our team. We are proud to celebrate you this Volunteers’ Week.
