After more than 43 years of dedicated service to the NHS, Hilary Greaves has retired, bringing to a close an exceptional career in midwifery that has made a lasting difference to families across County Durham and Darlington.

Hilary began her career as a Student Nurse in Carlisle, before moving to Durham in 1986 to train as a midwife.

Hilary gained experience across all acute maternity areas and particularly enjoying her role as a junior sister on the labour ward.

Throughout her career, Hilary embraced change within maternity services while maintaining the highest standards of care.

In 2003, she also experienced maternity care from a personal perspective when she became a mam to Emily and Helen - her greatest achievement.

The maternity team thank Hilary for her outstanding service and wish her every happiness and all the very best for the future.
