Trust Chairman Professor Richard Scothon was delighted to visit the Pregnancy Assessment Unit (PAU) at University Hospital of North Durham.

The visit gave the team an opportunity to share the vital role they play in supporting women, parents and families throughout their pregnancy journey.

From providing reassurance and urgent assessments to offering specialist advice and ongoing care, the PAU is central to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of both parents and babies.

Professor Scothon praised the dedication, professionalism and compassion shown by colleagues, and highlighted how impressed he was by the high standard of care being delivered every day.

He also reflected on the Trust’s ongoing commitment to listening, learning, and working alongside staff to strengthen maternity services and ensure families receive the very best support throughout their experience.
