County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT) is delighted to share that Lee Longstaff, Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon, has been awarded a Professorial title by Durham University.

This outstanding achievement recognises his significant and sustained contribution to clinical practice, education, and research.

Lee has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment throughout his career, supporting both colleagues and patients across the region.

Alongside his clinical role, Lee has held a number of senior educational leadership positions. These include: Training Programme Director for Trauma and Orthopaedics across the North East and Cumbria, where he has played a key role in shaping the next generation of surgeons.

Lee also continues to make an important contribution at a national level through his work with the Royal College of Surgeons of England, helping to influence standards and best practice within the profession.

As Orthopaedic Academic Lead at CDDFT and Specialty Lead for the NIHR Research Delivery Network, Lee has been instrumental in driving forward research and clinical trial activity across the Trust. His work has supported innovation and improved opportunities for patients to take part in high-quality research.

This Professorial title is a well-deserved recognition of Lee’s dedication, expertise, and impact across multiple areas of healthcare.
