The Darlington Community Stop Smoking Support Team recently brought the ‘Swap to Stop’ campaign to EE’s Darlington site, engaging with staff and encouraging healthier lifestyle changes through smoking cessation support.
The event was a resounding success, drawing interest from across the workforce and setting the stage for future health-focused initiatives.
Held as part of the nationwide drive to reduce smoking and disposable vape use, the event saw the team engage with 74 members of staff, offering advice, support, and access to free vape kits to help individuals begin their journey towards quitting tobacco for good.
A Snapshot of Impact
-
43 staff members identified as current smokers
-
21 individuals reported using disposable vapes
-
10 people disclosed using both cigarettes and vapes
-
53 free vape kits were distributed on the day
To help participants take the next step, the team provided QR codes linking directly to the local Stop Smoking Service, encouraging self-referral for structured, ongoing support.
Encouragingly, 45 employees expressed interest in a dedicated on-site stop smoking clinic - a clear sign of growing awareness and willingness to engage in healthier habits.
Building on Success
Due to the overwhelmingly positive response, the Stop Smoking Team is now working closely with EE’s human resources department to launch a regular on-site stop smoking clinic.
The next event is already scheduled for Tuesday, July 8, with the aim of maintaining momentum and reaching even more staff members.
Support Is Always Available
Quitting smoking is one of the most important decisions you can make for your health—nd it’s never too late to start.
