At the age of 82, Edith decided it was time to take charge of her health and make positive changes to her lifestyle. After completing the Eatwise programme with Wellbeing for Life (WBFL), she has lost an incredible three stone and, more importantly, is enjoying a new lease of life.

Edith joined Catherine Nicholson, Community Connector at Wellbeing for Life, at Crook Civic Centre in February 2026 to take part in the 12-session Eatwise programme, receiving support to make changes that would help her achieve her personal health and wellbeing goals.

Eatwise is a 12-session healthy weight programme offering practical, tailored advice and support. Each session explores a different topic, helping people make manageable changes to their everyday habits and build healthier lifestyles for the long term.

Throughout the programme, Edith embraced the advice and made small but significant changes at home.

Catherine said: “Her success wasn’t down to luck, but rather her wonderful attention to detail. Edith found meal tracking really useful, keeping a food diary that helped her stay mindful of her choices.”

Among the changes Edith made were increasing the amount of vegetables she ate and making sure she stayed hydrated throughout the day.

“These are two pillars of the Eatwise approach that she embraced wholeheartedly,” added Catherine.

Edith also recognised the importance of keeping active. Using her walker, she made a conscious effort to move more and stay as mobile as possible, putting another important element of the programme into practice.

Through her own determination and commitment, alongside Catherine’s support, Edith has lost an amazing three stone (42 pounds).

The difference has been significant. Edith has found it much easier to get around and says she has a renewed sense of energy and spirit, making a real difference to her everyday life.

Catherine said: “Edith has been a joy to have as a client. Her positive attitude and consistency have been an inspiration to all.

“It has been a privilege to watch her reach – and exceed – her goals. Well done, Edith! We are so proud of everything you have achieved.”

Edith’s story is a wonderful example of how making small, achievable changes, with the right support and encouragement, can have a positive impact on health and wellbeing at any age.
