As part of our commitment to continually improving patient care, County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust is introducing a new digital record system in our Special Care Baby Units.
From Tuesday 25 November 2025, CDDFT will begin using the BadgerNet Neonatal Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system. This secure, digital system will replace paper records and allow neonatal teams to record and access important information more efficiently and accurately.
What this means for you and your baby:
Care will continue as usual — the new system simply changes how your baby’s information is recorded and shared among healthcare professionals.
It will help ensure the most up-to-date information is available quickly, supporting safe and effective care.
Your baby’s privacy and data security remain a top priority.
There is no action needed from parents and families, and there will be no disruption to the care provided.
