We are delighted to formally welcome Kathryn Burn to her new role as Executive Director of Nursing, Midwifery, Allied Health Professionals (AHPs), and Quality at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.
Kathryn steps into the position following the retirement of Noel Scanlon on 6 December.
Kathryn brings an impressive wealth of experience and dedication to the role, having qualified as a nurse in 1996.
Her career has been firmly rooted in the North East, where she has made significant contributions to healthcare through her work in Northumbria and Gateshead before joining CDDFT.
Since becoming a part of the Trust as a Matron in Surgery, Kathryn has been integral to its success over the past 15 years.
Her journey within the organisation has seen her take on progressively senior roles, including Associate Director of Nursing for Surgery in 2016, Deputy Director of Nursing in 2020, and most recently, Director of Quality in 2023.
Kathryn is deeply committed to improving patient experience, driving quality improvement, and nurturing talent across the organisation.
Her leadership will focus on supporting our teams and services during the challenging winter months, maintaining our commitment to quality and stability.
In the New Year, Kathryn will continue settling into her new role, establishing her leadership team, and collaborating closely with the Associate Directors to shape the Trust’s vision for nursing, midwifery, and allied health professional services.
We wish Kathryn every success in her new role and look forward to the positive impact her leadership will bring to patients, staff, and the wider community.
